Frequently Asked Questions – Telemedicine

What is Qliance telemedicine?

Qliance telemedicine is 24/7 healthcare available via phone or video. Answer a few questions about your issue, request a virtual visit, and within about 30 minutes you can be speaking to a medical provider by phone or video. Virtual providers can assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of minor illnesses and prescribe medication when appropriate.

Who is eligible?

Qliance telemedicine is available to all of our members located in Washington, Kentucky, Iowa (video only), Nebraska, Illinois, Oklahoma (video only), Arizona, Pennsylvania, Oregon, North Dakota, South Carolina (video only) and Wisconsin. However, virtual visits are not available to those covered under government insurance such as Medicare, Medicaid Advantage, Medicaid, Tricare, or L&I. If you are covered under a government insurance plan, we can help you find a medical resource near you.

May I receive telemedicine care if my home address is outside of the U.S.?

You are eligible to receive care if your home address is outside the US. However, you must be making the virtual visit request from one of the eleven states in the U.S. in which Qliance telemedicine provides care. Please note that on your telemedicine record, your home address will be listed in our system as your employer’s local mailing address. Our systems do not have the ability at this time to accommodate international addresses. If you elect to receive any information via postal mail, it will be mailed to your local employer’s address on file.

What illnesses can be treated?

Qliance telemedicine can be effective for treating minor and uncomplicated medical concerns such as a cold, sinus symptoms, bladder infection in adult women, pink eye, rash, dizziness, and much more.

Who are the providers delivering Qliance telemedicine?

Qliance telemedicine is delivered by board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners that specialize in delivering quality and patient-focused Qliance telemedicine. With a patient satisfaction rate of 98 percent, these providers deliver excellence in virtual medicine.

Can I use Qliance telemedicine instead of going to my family doctor?

In some circumstances, Qliance telemedicine can save you a trip to your family doctor. However, virtual visits should not replace a relationship with a primary care provider (PCP). If you don’t have a primary care provider, we can help you find one.

Can Qliance telemedicine providers prescribe medication?

If clinically appropriate, virtual providers can prescribe medication to treat your health concern. Commonly prescribed medications include antibiotics when indicated, allergy medications, anti-nausea medications, and various skin creams or ointments.

We are committed to providing you the highest quality medical care. The virtual providers follow national healthcare guidelines for prescribing antibiotics. Antibiotics are only warranted in specific cases and can have serious side effects such as diarrhea and vomiting. Our providers only prescribe them when clinically necessary.

Qliance telemedicine providers will not prescribe or refill medications for the treatment of psychiatric conditions, and will not prescribe DEA controlled substances including medications such as:

• Narcotic medications (i.e. Oxycodone, Vicodin, Percocet, Codeine)
• Anti-anxiety medications (i.e. Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Klonopin)
• Antidepressant medications (i.e, Zoloft, Prozac, Celexa)

Can I use Qliance telemedicine for follow-up questions or prescription refills?

Qliance telemedicine is intended for minor illnesses only. It is not intended to deliver continuity care nor should it be used for prescription refills. If you need a prescription refill, we recommend you speak with your primary care provider. Short-term prescription refills for indicated conditions may be issued in select cases within the virtual provider’s discretion.

How do I pay for Qliance telemedicine?

Qliance telemedicine is included in your monthly membership with Qliance. As a Qliance member, you can utilize our telemedicine services as often as you need for episodic, urgent care issues.
